An editorial powered by the sun. This is fantastic, and it reminds me of when I used to play with water to create rainbow paintings as a child – video below:

Painting with water suddenly made the illustrations appear, and it’s still clever today.

Images: Games explains his design process in the referenced book above, and admits that designing is a step-by-step approach. There is no way to get to the final idea without taking each step along the way first. I am guilty of trying to get to the final before I’ve even started a project sometimes, and I think this is a valid piece of information to remember.
The poster is very cleverly designed; with a front perspective of a spade and a ship where the images and text instantly communicate a message. It’s thinking about what Sam said – the images of the spade and ship (overall looking like a spade) says ‘gardening’ whilst the text reinforces the message. It’s effective and very simple.
