Concrete poetry

Thinking about how to layout my text in the editorial – I have always appreciated concrete poetry and the way text can visually present shapes to portray meaning.

Sam Winston’s dictionary story that I have researched in week 1 is an inspiring example on how text can be presented visually.
  • John Hollander’s “Swan and Shadow”
Image: Looking at other examples of concrete poetry – John Hollander’s Swan and Shadow is such a simplistic concept but looks effective. The text is still legible, and there is clear direction of which way to read the text as the poem goes down in lines as a page in a book would. I could take great inspiration from this and I’m eager to begin experimenting.
