TYPO talk – comedy carpet
The intricacy of the lettering being moulded then cast into giant slabs is really mesmerising!! What I love most about this project is the sheer scale of the letters and the overall effect when all slabs are put together in the final piece. It’s really clever and just resembles a giant newspaper.
Traversing Wall
Young’s work is interactive, but not in the sense that we’ve come to know through technology. The giant lettering engages with viewers in some way and I think there’s something beautiful about letters of such large scale that people can walk all over, climb on etc. It inspires the viewer to go visit the attraction in person and promotes the tourism. “The work can be read from the beach and promenade but also from planes coming into land at Cardiff Airport.” – this statement proves that the artwork is to be noticed and has become a tourist attraction in itself.
