Week 2

3) Freestone Creative:

“Moving forward digital marketing and more accurately targeted, personalised communications are high on the agenda – although we still have a high demand for printed brochures, especially in luxury markets.”

In a world that is advancing to digitised content, I like that Freestone are reminding customers of this. That is why I have chosen a company that presents such beautifully presented printed material.

Company statement:

“At Freestone Creative, we believe Intelligent creative is not just about good quality graphic design or innovative digital solutions. It’s about communicating exactly what your brand stands for in the marketplace. It needs just the right balance of insight, ideas, strategy and creativity. And that’s what we do best at Freestone.
What our clients love about our creative design is that it’s always on brand. From graphic design for your internal or external campaigns, to innovative user interfaces for your new web app or web site design, we consider every aspect of a brand’s visual and verbal language. Only then can we express a brand’s personality and principles in a way that really hits the mark. Regardless of the medium – print, POS, exhibition, EDM, web sites or advertising both on and off-line, the creative and the function it is intended for needs to be in perfect balance.
We’re also passionate about partnership. While we love being creative and leading with new ideas, we believe a genuinely collaborative approach with our clients is essential to create effective communications that cut through and make a difference. This is proven with 30 years experience partnering some of the worlds best known brands in the Milton Keynes, Northampton and Bedford area and beyond.”

Freestone specialise in mainly brochures and print, with the automotive sector being the most popular.
As a graphic design studio, they are presented as prestigious, confident and bold. Founded in 1984, the company was developed by the founder, Stuart Freestone. The name has remained the same since. This suggests that Freestone is a trusted, respectable name, with a history of successful design. The words used to describe themselves on the website include: “reputations”, “referrals”, “balanced” collaboration”, “insight”, “strategy” – all qualities of a successful, experienced company.

A team of twenty employees – the team are listed on the website, including the dogs. In comparison to the other two companies I have explored, this is a larger team. However, something I hadn’t considered was discovered when looking at this – there are several people who look after the companies clients. There are five directors, five senior creatives, someone who specialises in web design and someone who specialises in digital. This suggests that there are specialised roles, approaching briefs in a production line process, including guiding the client.

The exterior:

Address: The Old Pump House, Calverton Road, Stony Stratford, Milton Keynes, MK11 1YT

The house prices on average in this area are: £316,487, which is on the higher side of MK housing prices. Considering the location is not close to the city but close to a small town, the area is easily accessible and an all round good location. Situated on the outskirts of Milton Keynes, not central but accessible to local clientele such as Mercedes-Benz head office. Freestone has well-established clientele, and the area reflects this. Stony stratford is known for being the crossing point over the River Ouse, and this building (above) provided water to the town of Stony Stratford from 1884-1950.
