Week 2

2) WHP Creative:

I really like the colourful visuals in this event design. The strong typographic elements combined with mixed media illustration is effective, alongside the inspirations from planets and space.

Company statement:

”We’re a Drum Recommended Agency with bases in both Milton Keynes & London. With over 15 years’ experience in design & digital projects we provide creative and innovative solutions for a diverse range of organisations. We pride ourselves on working closely with our clients to create design-led solutions that compliment their brand’s perception and growth.”

WHP have examples of work that specialises mostly digital branding, however printing is the most popular category on their website. They have a diverse range of sectors, including work in: automotive, education, finance, and medical.
This company present themselves as adaptable, flexible and experienced – words used on the site include “diverse”, “growth”, “potential”, “flair” and “educating”. I particularly love how having the clientele visible shows they aren’t afraid to take on a challenge, and try something different.
The graphic design agency are small, consisting of about ten employees. I am surprised. I feel that the type of work they do in correlation to the amount of employees is impressive, I think there are potentially colleagues who have certain knowledge in departments and are allocated to each project, simply because of their current clientele and their history in designing for these various sectors.

The name of the company has changed as the business has grown, which is interesting. “We have powers” changed from “Spicer Eltherington Design LTD” in 2008, which was a combination of two names – Peter Spicer and James Eltherington. The name suggests that the merged name was potentially outdated and needed changing to appeal to a broader range of customers, particularly as their clientele became more broad. An abbreviated name (WHP) certainly appeals to a younger audience and makes the brand faceless, appealing to companies they haven’t worked with before.

The exterior:

Address: Suite 5 Manor Farm Court, Old Wolverton Rd, Milton Keynes, MK12 5NN

The house prices on average in this location are £332,944. This is the most expensive out of all three, but this has to be down to the surrounding green space. The Parks Trust charity own the famous public art of “Concrete Cows” and manage green spaces in MK, so I find that WHP situating themselves at this location is fitting in the creative industry.
