How can I present my final idea?

• Prototype – a document showcasing all of my mockups and subtitling processes including extensions for the internet, video, and app stores on TV’s / online.
• One page outline
• Short video

How would it work?

There would be customisable subtitles for any videos on the internet, in my example I will show how the extension would work on YouTube. I will also demonstrate how having the subtitle app installed on the TV, will present subtitles on a programme/film.

Logo and correspondence

Using lime photographs as reference, I doodled the limes roughly and then used those outlines to draw an overlay of digitised illustrations. It was important to use solid colour for my logo so that it will show up on websites and the TV.

Extensions for media on the internet

I currently use ‘adblock’ and ‘pinterest’ extensions which allow me to block adverts or save any image on a page to my pinterest board. For online purposes videos/podcasts/radio subtitles could be provided as an extension through internet settings.

An app for a television

Thinking back to when teletext existed and the terrible colours of neon type – TV way finding has improved in appearance and functionality a lot in the last 20 years. Most TV’s use applications, particularly with the rise of Netflix, Disney plus, BBC iPlayer, ITV hub and 4 on Demand to name a few. My idea would be in the form of an app, and all content played on the TV could be used in conjunction with the app, so when you select a subtitle button on the tv programme, you can bring up customised subs linked from the subtitle app.

Examples of different colour/typeface can be applied, along with the option to change cursor.

Wayfinding:

  • Main home screen with Sublime app
  • This page appears when app is selected
  • Options to change colour of background and text, in translucent or solid
The wayfinding of the settings for sublime would be really easily accessible being located on the TV providers app store/home screen. I have created a settings app that is simplistic, with on/off switches for multiple options. I have narrowed down the options to be as minimal as possible, whilst making the service exciting enough to be addressing a gap in the market.

An app for websites i.e. Youtube

  • Again, option to choose lime as cursor.
Instead of the ‘CC’ caption button on Youtube, there will be an option to click the lime instead for subtitles. (This is identified through the website extension, just like Adblocker identifies adverts on YouTube). The above is a still from Pink Panther.
This still is from a David Attenborough documentary, which I will use in my final PDF. I further developed it as I didn’t like having the youtube screen as the final mockup – it looks much more legible on a laptop. Also as a Prototype, I think it would be better presented to the customer as they could see what it would look like properly.
