Next steps…

The opportunity – an app

Just to tie the whole concept together, I feel that developing a simple few snapshots of what an app could look like when developed may inform my workshop further. Having an app would enable a community of graphic designers and also encourage further projects after the workshop.

Experiments of the early development process:
• A home page with log in
• A map of the UK for graphic designers to locate workshops and sign up (pricing plan in the app)
• A social media feed purely for graphic design attendees of the workshop

Development of app design:

I knew if it was social media based I would need some icons, so I drew some on procreate and applied with the branding colours as overlay in Photoshop. I needed to test out the designs below before knowing what worked and what didn’t.

I also wanted to present a fun hand drawn map to use as a location finder for other workshops in the UK – here is my timelapse of tracing the image that is in the iphone mock-up:

Verdict

I am glad I took the time to roughly put together an app to see where it could lead as an opportunity of developing this project further. I definitely think if I was going to continue the project I would make a fully functioning app to go alongside the brochure as it would be really beneficial creating a community where all work can be posted from attendees of the graphic design workshop. It would also be a great way to advertise.
