FURTHER FINAL DEVELOPMENT
Using the movie/book reference of chocolate:
I have been struggling to get the background right so I have looked back to the movie of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for reference. The river is really calm in these photographs above (taken off Google) and I want to use them in my final piece. There’s a tranquil element of having the fast flowing typography on a calm, serene chocolate background.
Final:

I’ve presented the final on a large scale poster that would fill an entire exhibition wall. I wanted the poster material to seem as if it was blowing in the wind – like a large flag or banner.
The ripples are very much like water ripples.
I think my final piece is effective because the typography presents the mad rush of life, the moments where I find myself asking if my life is going in the right direction. I wanted to portray a constant flow, and also capture the uncertainty of my journey throughout my life. Nothing is granted, and there will be times of calm, and times of chaos.
I have presented the waterfall on a calm, water droplet background as a gentle reminder that in times of the madness and uncertainty, it will all be worthwhile in the end. You will reach your destination and end up where you’re meant to be.
To improve my final outcome what could I do?
It’s fair to say for this week I have done lots of experiments in terms of layout and composition; colour and contrast. However, one thing I have kept quite similar is the composition of the text; I was certain of using the waterfall idea as my final piece. I can’t help but think now when reflecting back – what if I had experimented with different styles of water shapes? For example, puddles or raindrops. There was a really interesting development with the ‘tumbling’ of letters and if I used that for those (puddles and droplets) I think they would have been visually effective in their own right. I would develop those if I had to go back and change anything, but overall I’m pleased with the final outcome, because I know I tried several different experiments which all have meaning behind each development process.
