Week 1

Elevator Pitch

Write an ‘about’ paragraph – an elevator pitch on either your current positioning or one you would like to establish. You may choose to take a speculative approach and envision your global dominance as a design studio superpower. Or as a more humble sole trader who works in a freelance capacity. Have your values changed since beginning the course? Is there a strategic approach your company would communicate to potential commissioners or clients?

Please consider the following in your approach:

  • What is the idea?
  • How does it work?
  • Why does it work?

I need to be pushed outside of my comfort zone and explore new boundaries and feel the best way to do this would be to get work experience, or begin a role as a junior designer until I feel knowledegable enough to stand on my own two feet. Since beginning the course, I am more certain about the fact that sustainability is something I am passionate about and want to explore that field further.

• I need to be innovative in the creative industry through sustainable practice. Combining design with innovation, my projects will educate both clients and consumers.
• Ideally looking to do this within a multi-skilled team where I can absorb skills and processes. This could be a brand where I design solely for internal products, or a large company with multiple external brands. These environments will expand my knowledge of sustainable practice through gaps in the industry, and generating process improvement.
• The strategic approach is to be designing with the future in mind and be different from other design studios where I utilise craft; such as generating my own natural materials i.e compostable packaging.

“Never has science around the world been so abundant to meet the challenges that we have,” said Emmanuel Macron, president of France.

My pitch:

We are saving the world through design.

Whilst tackling the impact of consumption we accept that there is desire to consume. This means we are considering the lifecycle of our products, right through production to afterlife. Combining design with innovation, we strive to educate and raise awareness using ethical suppliers and biodegradable materials.

Our green graphic design principles ensure clients receive the very best knowledge. We provide the foundations to generate an achievable, ethical design strategy. Branding? No greenwashing, just honesty. Packaging? No pollution, just compost. Carbon footprint? Minimal.
